By observing a few precautions and setting up regular cleaning routine and maintenance program, you can expect years of beauty from your floor. NEVER wet-mop, damp-mop, or flood your floor with water, as this can severely damage the flooring and will void the warranties. DO NOT oil soaps, liquid or paste wax products or other house hold cleaners that contain lemon oil, tung oil, silicon or ammonia. These particular substances will cause harm the long-term Performance Edge and recoatability. SPILLS; wiped up as they occur. PETS; Keep nails trimmed, and paws clean. FURNITURE: Place protective pads or glides beneath legs and feet. Use a dolly and protective sheets of plywood when moving heavy objects furniture or appliances. Make certain furniture casters operate properly SHOES; remove shoes with spiked or damaged heels before walking on hardwood floors. RUGS and WALK-OFF MATS; locate it in traffic patterns, kitchen by the sink or stove, foyers or areas with exterior doors. HUMIDITY; take notice of manufacturer's recommended humidity level. SUNLIGHT; UV rays accelerates the oxidation and aging of woods. Keep blinds closed while rooms are unoccupied. Rearrange rugs. CLEANER; use only the one recommended by manufacture. It works best with the finish and protects both the floor and the warranty. SWEEP; or use a brush or felt head vacuum regularly. Be certain the wheels of the vacuum are clean as to prevent damage the finish.
Engineered wood floors are generally 2,3, or 5 thin sheets of wood that are laminated together to form one plank. These floors will range from 1/4" to 9/16" in thickness, and from 2 1/4" to 7" in width. The lengths will be random and range from 12" - 60" in length.
